Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a casual passer-by off the street for a nice conversation. Because everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Louis Van Rompaey (23).

“My roots are in Antwerp, but for the past five years I lived in Ghent where I studied interior design. I was able to work at Fest, an Amsterdam furniture and design brand that wanted to spread its wings in the Artevelde city and give me the opportunity to open the store.”

“A while ago I was told that they would like me to join them in Antwerp. I recently became co-responsible for the store. The door is not exactly slammed in the first days of the school year, but solving binary puzzles in the sun in between is not bad either.”

“Busy days or not, I’m happy with my return to the city. I have been living in the South with my girlfriend since June. I am closer to my family and friends again. Actually, my social life takes place here in this city. And that is reason number one why I had no doubts about the Fest Antwerp offer.”

“Ghent is pleasant, but the city of biscuits has that cozy terrace culture. I really missed that one a lot. Only: that is by no means good for the portfolio.”
