Microsoft has appointed Marijke Schroos as new General Manager for Belgium and Luxembourg. As of October 1, she will take over from Didier Ongena, who is taking up another role within Microsoft Western Europe.

Marijke Schroos started her career at Microsoft in 2003. Since then she has held various positions within the organization and has progressed to the leadership team of Microsoft BeLux. Since 2017, she has headed the Public Sector division, helping public institutions grow through digital transformation.

In her new position, Schroos will continue to focus on the role of Microsoft in helping companies and organizations in Belgium and Luxembourg. ‘Together we want to develop solutions for the many social challenges in the areas of energy, mobility, sustainability, healthcare and so much more’, it sounds.

Digital AmBEtion

As the new General Manager, Schroos will also continue to work on Digital AmBEtion, the multi-year investment program (including the construction of three state-of-the-art data centers in Belgium) launched last year.

‘It has always been my passion to understand the strengths and needs of organizations and the people who work there. Whether it concerns Microsoft BeLux itself, our partners, our customers or society as a whole,” says Schroos. ‘In addition, we remain aware of the impact we can have on society. We want to be at the forefront of inclusion and continue to work to close the digital divide. At Microsoft I want to create an environment where everyone feels welcome.’

Marijke Schroos studied Communication Sciences at the KU Leuven. She gained her first work experience at Tandem, where she was Marketing & Communications Manager. Afterwards she started working at Toshiba as Marketing Manager for the Benelux. In 2003, she joined Microsoft as a Segment Marketing Manager. In addition to her activities at Microsoft, Marijke Schroos is also a director at ADMBelgium.

Her predecessor Didier Ongena becomes ad interim Public Sector Lead at Microsoft Western Europe. Barbara Van Den Haute will replace Marijke Schroos in the Leadership Team of Microsoft BeLux as Public Sector lead.
