The Belgian Cats are preparing for the World Cup basketball in Australia. France, eliminated by the Belgians in the quarter-finals at the 2018 World Cup, was the opponent in the last practice match.
Kyara Linskens (11 points) and Julie Vanloo (7) were the best shooters for Belgium in the first half, but France still cut a gap. Just before half time there was a downer for the Belgian Cats.
Laure Resimont fell, grabbed her ankle and had to be injured. There were major concerns for a while, but the injury seems to be not too bad. Resimont would not miss the World Cup.
Even after the break, the French women dominated and the gap widened, 15 points behind at the end of the third quarter: 51-66.
The Cats had saved the best for the last quarter. Thanks to a good defense, the Belgian ladies crawled closer. They approached to 4 points in the final minute, but after that the ball didn’t fall properly. In the end it was 67-76 on the scoreboard.
