Work on the sewerage will start on Monday 5 September at the intersection of Sint-Michielskaai and Scheldestraat. This fits in with the reconstruction of the Scheldt quays on the part of the Sint-Andrieswijk and the South. The intersection will be largely closed until the end of October.

During the works, car traffic will still be able to pass from north to south. For example, the Sint-Michielskaai becomes one-way from the Sint-Michielstraat to the Scheldestraat. The through car traffic from south to north will be diverted via the Van der Sweepstraat over the Leien towards Brouwersvliet.

The cycle path on the Scheldt quays will remain open in both directions. Cyclists from Scheldestraat to Scheldekaaien follow a diversion via Kloosterstraat.

In the final phase, from October to the spring of 2023, a new cycle path will be built that connects to the existing one, and the further redevelopment of the public domain on the city and water sides will follow. The current dike path will be extended there and there will be various seating areas, two sports fields, a skate zone behind the dike, a playground and extra greenery.
