The accident happened on Thursday at the Driepaal in Dilsen-Stokkem. Frank Driesen came into the street from the cycle path on the old railway bed around 6 pm when an all-terrain vehicle passed. A serious collision ensued. The bicycle broke in two and Driesen hit the hood and windshield, after which he crashed into the ground. The victim suffered a serious head injury. Emergency services arrived at the scene, but Driesen died at the crash site.

The local police Maasland made the first observations and informed the Limburg public prosecutor’s office. A traffic expert was called in to investigate the exact circumstances of the accident. The road to the Driepaal remained closed to all traffic in both directions for hours.

Frank Driesen is known as an enthusiastic entrepreneur with a good nose for opportunities. In 2000, for example, he established his Ford franchise just opposite the former Ford factory, from where he was able to service the numerous customers among the Ford staff. When the production company closed down, Driesen shifted its focus to vehicles for the corporate market and boosted its image by highlighting more exclusive models such as Mustang and Vignale.

The Managing Director of FordStore Driesen was already involved in a serious traffic accident exactly 5 years ago. Then his life hung by a thread after he hit a house with his Ford Mustang on the Rijksweg in Elen. Miraculously, he survived that blow.

Frank Driesen leaves behind a wife and two daughters.
