Our country missed out on a ticket to the finals of the Eurovision Song Contest on Thursday. ‘Our’ Mustii did not receive enough votes from the public during the semi-final for one of the ten final tickets.

The ten countries that will continue are: Latvia, Austria, the Netherlands, Norway, Israel, Greece, Estonia, Switzerland, Georgia and Armenia. On Tuesday, Serbia, Portugal, Slovenia, Ukraine, Lithuania, Finland, Cyprus, Croatia, Ireland and Luxembourg secured a ticket to the final. This also includes the big five – Germany, France, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom – and defending champion Sweden.

Mustii, the Belgian entry in the Eurovision Song Contest, delivered a political message during the second semi-final on Thursday. On his arm was written ‘peace’ in black letters.

Political messages during the Eurovision Song Contest are actually prohibited, but the organization does not always succeed in stopping them.

On Tuesday, Swedish singer Eric Saade also made a statement during the opening act by performing with a Palestinian scarf around his wrist. Irish artist Bambie Thug also wanted to express support for the victims of the war in the Gaza Strip, but was rejected.

Mustii previously said he would not boycott the Eurovision Song Contest, but preferred to deliver ‘a message of hope and love’. He did this on Thursday with the word ‘peace’ on his arm, which he only revealed later when he bared his shoulders.

Beforehand, we had to wait anxiously to see how the audience would react to Israel’s entry. Singer Eden Golan was greeted with boos during the dress rehearsal, but there was no sign of this during the semi-final. There was even loud applause, even during the song. However, on X it is said that it is about ‘fake applause’, but those reports have not been officially confirmed.
