Every weekday our reporter and photographer pick a random passerby from the street for a nice conversation. Because everyone has a story. And certainly in Antwerp. Today: Peter Van Bavel (57).
“I work at the green department of the city of Antwerp. A wonderful job, which I do in the most beautiful office in the city. I always sit in the parks, in the middle of green surroundings. Occasionally I also do some administration. This ensures a nice balance between working indoors and outdoors.”
“My favorite place where I already worked? That must be the Reigersbos in Berendrecht. In the meantime, I’m mainly on the Left Bank, which isn’t bad either. The area around Galgenweel is home to a wonderful diversity of herbs.”
“When I’m not working, I like to spend time in nature reserves outside the city. Nature makes me happy. But not only them. After all, I have had a healthy passion for culture since I was young.”
“I am currently following a fashion and textiles course. In the distant past I did pattern drawing. But the fashion sector is stressful and much less glamorous than it makes out. Now I make my own clothes, and that’s fine. A wonderful hobby, that’s all it needs to be.”
