There will be catering on Bovy again within the month

In a month at most, you will be able to eat and drink again at Domain Bovy, the catering concession has been allocated to two well-known catering entrepreneurs from Hasselt: Filip Vanheusden and René Geurts. Filip Vanheusden is the man behind well-known catering establishments such as ‘t Borrelhuis, KwiZien and other initiatives. He was chairman of Horeca-Limburg and subsequently Horeca-Vlaanderen for many years. René Geurts is still a young catering operator, he knew Café René in Hemelrijk in Hasselt for its extensive beer range. Both are eager to get started and they are also using the entire catering infrastructure under the umbrella name “The Good of Bovy‘, that is the historical name of the domain when Governor Bovy lived there. This will include three parts: Bistro Bovy, Bar Joseph (named after the governor) and Bovy Events (the barn).
As quickly as possible

There is still a lot to be set up and the operators are of course dependent on the supply of materials. Still, they hope around third week of May to be able to open the terrace, with drinks and also a limited food menu. This way they could do a test run and be fully operational by June 1. This is followed by Bistro Bovy. It will focus on ‘grandmothers kitchen‘, the menu will not be overly large because Filip and René want to focus on authentic and high-quality dishes. The small building that many know as the ice cream house is being used as a kind of permanent food truck. At busy times the terrace will be supported from there, but the intention is to offer various seasonal products there during the course of the year. Just think of an ice cream in the summer.

Events and parties

In the final phase they then take The barn in use. Under the name Bovy Events, people can go there for parties, groups, service club meetings, workshops, etc. There too, the grandmother’s concept will be extended to the food offering.

Filip and René want to go first in the coming period get in touch with the environment, locals and visitors. They think they can increase the attractiveness of the domain even more in the summer and winter events to add to the offer. But with a lot of experience behind them, they also clearly want to work in a systematic manner. An additional windfall is that the renovation of the entrance and front of Bovy is currently being finalized. That should also provide even more attraction.
