In the Belgian municipality of Kinrooi, not far across the border near Weert, a Dutchman was arrested for driving drunk. It concerns a 36-year-old soldier. A wild chase preceded it.

The Dutch police started the chase from Thorn in Limburg on Friday evening around 11:15 p.m. The police signaled the driver to stop, but he ignored it. Over the next fifteen minutes, the driver repeatedly ignored stop signs and took major risks by driving wrong-way.

The chase ended in Ophoven near Kinrooi, where the driver fled on foot. The Dutch police eventually found the suspect hiding in the bushes. The suspect resisted his arrest, but the Dutch police managed to keep him under control. The Belgian police carried out the arrest. The co-driver, a 34-year-old woman, was also arrested.

The suspect is said to live in Belgium. The Royal Military Police was informed and arrived on site to investigate the matter further.
