Choosing the ideal wedding dress or trying on wedding rings? Today and tomorrow, couples can shape their wedding ideas at the wedding fair in the Grand Bazar Shopping Center on the Groenplaats. Bieke and Michael also dare to dream of their big day after six years.
This weekend you will find a wedding fair in the Grand Bazar shopping center. Engaged couples or interested passers-by can view wedding dresses or choose their ideal wedding rings.
“We have actually been engaged for a long time, but now we can really throw a nice party. We can finally start dreaming a little,” says Bieke Kennes (33). In 2018, her partner Michael Rombout (34) took a knee. “He was fully dressed up, but I thought that was just for my birthday. He ended up asking me to marry him in front of the castle at Disney World.”
And they absolutely want to relive the magical atmosphere of that day on their wedding day. “This wedding fair comes at just the right time, because we still have to decide everything,” says Michael. They already received tips on how to keep the party going in the fort of Hoboken, were able to view rings and the outfits are also taking shape.
“I always thought I would get married in a princess dress, but the shopkeeper just showed me trousers that are so wide that they also look like a dress. That might be comfortable for a mother of two children.”
Margot Verhille (23) set up the wedding fair. Together with her brother and her father, she is behind the jewelry brand Bijorca. “I run our store in Grand Bazar myself, where I work with female entrepreneurs. Our other store offers very classic rings, made by goldsmiths.”
To combat the vacancy of Grand Bazar, Margot came up with the idea of organizing the wedding fair in the shopping center. “The printing company temporarily fills a store that was empty and the dresses are also displayed in a pop-up. It is also pleasant for passers-by that they do not see a roller shutter for the umpteenth time.”
