Two men have been arrested in the Netherlands after cutting off their ankle monitor. They were convicted last year for their involvement in an attack in Deurne. One of the two was handed over to our country on Thursday.
The facts for which the two were convicted by the criminal court in Antwerp at the end of May took place on the night of August 9, 2022. Three people turned up in the Van Lissumstraat in Deurne, at the home of a member of the EH family. That family has often been the target of attacks from the drug environment, including in the Deken De Winterstraat in Berchem.
They sprayed the word ‘thief’ on the front door with graffiti. The perpetrators also tried to set a car on fire, but fled when a local resident noticed them. In a second attempt later that evening, two guys were intercepted and taken hostage by an illegal security service of the EH family

The judicial investigation revealed the involvement of four suspects. This includes Gyorno L. (21), who allegedly gave the order for the attack ‘suddenly’ via the Snapchat account, and executor Genyro A. (19). They were arrested on October 13 and were given an ankle monitor. The criminal court in Antwerp sentenced Gyorno L. and Genyro A. to five and four years in prison respectively on May 31, 2023.
The court also ordered their immediate arrest, but the same day both men cut their ankle monitors to avoid jail time. The duo was alerted and actively tracked down. Both were arrested in the Netherlands last year. “The 21-year-old Dutchman was extradited from the Netherlands to our country on Thursday,” Aerts confirms. “The extradition procedure of the 19-year-old suspect is still ongoing.”
