Cuban international Tito Casero is looking forward to the upcoming matches. After the match in Brussels and the Aalst carnival match, the guard, who lives in Halle, will go to a double international match with Cuba, which crosses paths with the US. Helping Okapi is central on Sunday.

After the liberating home win against Mechelen, the spell seemed to be broken for Okapi Aalst, who led Limburg United by eleven points and still led comfortably at half-time. In a disastrous third quarter the Onions however, completely with the buttocks exposed.

“We have to keep working hard,” sighs playmaker Tito Casero, who came over from Sweden and is on his second visit to Aalst. “I’m already looking forward to the carnival match. My last edition was a long time ago, but I still vividly remember the crazy atmosphere. It is a unique spectacle. First we go to Brussels, a very good team. By the way, I know several players there, including Deroover, Hazard and Libert. We have to build on the strong first half we achieved in Hasselt. Maintaining that intensity for forty minutes is the challenge.”

Casero continues to believe in the player potential, despite the dramatic results. “We proved what we have against Mechelen. We were up against twenty-somethings, but fought our way into the match and pulled the curtain on us. Before that, we often bit into the sand with minimal difference, which was quite frustrating. We just have to keep working. We have a good group with a great mentality and are armed to do better. We should not look too much at the rankings now, but try to improve match by match. The short bus ride to Brussels will certainly not be an obstacle.”

Double international match with Cuba against the US

Despite the sporting problems, Tito Casero is satisfied in Aalst. “Basketball is our profession, but we are also people. I have now been reunited with my wife, who works in education. We live in Halle. I am happy to be back in Aalst and signed a one and a half year contract, so that I will still play in the Forum next season. On February 22 I will go to the US for an international match with Cuba. Three days later we receive the US in Cuba. That double international match will be one with photos for my career highlights album.”
