The Civil Protection arrived again on Thursday in Emblem (Ranst) to further clean up the drug lab that was found there. The judicial investigation continues and the two suspects will appear in court next week.

The Antwerp police pulled over a car on the Singel in Antwerp on Tuesday afternoon. The two occupants, a 29-year-old man from Antwerp and a 24-year-old woman from Tessenderlo, were arrested. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the couple could be linked to two dumpings of drug waste earlier that day: dozens of red and black jerry cans were found on Zandhovensesteenweg in Oelegem (Ranst) and on Haviklaan in Deurne.

“In the further investigation by the Antwerp federal judicial police, a location on the Oostmalsesteenweg in Ranst came into view on Tuesday evening,” says spokesperson Kristof Aerts of the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office. “The police found a conversion lab there.” In such a lab, precursors are made, the basic product of synthetic drugs.

The Civil Protection arrived on site to safely dismantle the drug lab. The investigation continues. The suspects will appear in court on Monday.
