Limburg and Brabant farmers want to take action on Thursday evening to support Belgian farmers, says a spokesperson for Farmers Defense Force (FDF). She does not want to confirm whether it concerns blocking a highway crossing between the Netherlands and Belgium. A call for this is circulating on social media.
FDF claims a large turnout and says that it will only be known later what exactly the farmers will do. A circulating call mentions a blockade of the E19 near the Belgian Lake. This highway continues into the A16 at Hazeldonk in Brabant. It is not clear whether action will actually be taken here.
In Belgium there will be protests against agricultural policy on Thursday. For example, according to the police, there are more than 1,300 tractors in Brussels. A van drove into a farmers’ blockade near the western Belgian town of Bruges on Thursday morning. One person was seriously injured as a result. Another person was seriously injured on the highway near Lummen, Belgium, when a truck crashed into a traffic jam.
