Although the focus of the farmers’ protests on Thursday is in Brussels, the angry farmers do not spare other places. Companies in the port of Antwerp are also experiencing inconvenience due to blockages on Scheldelaan, the R2 exits in Zandvliet and the Noordland Bridge, also in Zandvliet. But at the latter location the farmers also show their most understanding side by handing out water and food to the truck drivers who have been stuck there for hours.

At least fifty agricultural vehicles have been blocking the Noordland Bridge in Zandvliet for hours. That is a crucial bridge for people from the north who want to reach the petrochemical companies. Chemical company BASF is also affected by this.

Passenger cars, buses carrying port employees and priority transport are selectively allowed to pass, but trucks with containers are stopped. Around noon, trucks that wanted to leave the port were loaded past the filter blockage.

The activists also showed their generous side, as they passed by the stationary trucks with bottled water and food to swallow the hunger.
