On Friday evening around 7.20 pm, a van ended up on its side after a serious collision with a car on the Rijksweg in Vucht (Maasmechelen). The driver was taken to hospital with injuries.
The van, which delivers fries to your home, was driving towards Eisden when a car wanted to drive onto the Rijksweg from the parking lot of the chip shop. There was a collision and the van overturned and ended up on its side through the roof, in the middle of the highway. The other car was catapulted and landed on the back of a parked car in the parking lane.

The East Limburg fire brigade had to arrive on the scene after the crash for rescue. The driver of the van was taken to hospital with injuries. The van is in perfect condition. Because the van came to a stop in the middle of the Rijksweg, the Rijksweg towards Eisden was closed to all through traffic that returned to the Rijksweg via Groenstraat and Reinboomstraat.(JTh)
