In the investigation into several acts of violence on the sea wall of Ostend, a minor suspect could be identified and arrested. The public prosecutor’s office of West Flanders, Bruges department, confirms this. The young man was then brought before the investigating judge.
The facts took place on the sea wall in Ostend during the night of 27 to 28 May. The suspect was filmed by several surveillance cameras that night. The images show him hanging out on the sea wall with five other young people. He was filmed in Madridstraat and Langestraat with a young woman at his side. At one point he spoke to one of the victims near the sea wall. The suspect punched him in the face and kicked him. That same evening, the young man allegedly attacked at least two more people. One of the victims suffered a fractured jawbone.
At the request of the Bruges public prosecutor’s office, an investigation notice was distributed on Sunday. The call from the Ostend police zone quickly led to a breakthrough. After all, a minor suspect could be identified and arrested. After questioning, the young man was brought before the juvenile court in Bruges. The public prosecutor’s office does not communicate about the juvenile judge’s decision.
