Nearly 7,000 Limburgers are already participating in the HBVL Citizen Survey ‘How happy are you?’. Whether they are happy with life, have little or a lot of stress, feel well or unwell. Het Belang van Limburg and UHasselt want to test this with 10,000 fellow provinces. Participate quickly via hbvl.be/onderzoek.
What is HBVL Citizen Survey?
Het Belang van Limburg and UHasselt are joining forces for HBVL Citizen Research. At regular intervals we question the Limburg population about important themes, this time about mental health.

The 10,000 Limburgers are finally in sight: 6,877 people have already completed the survey about their ‘feeling of happiness’ by the Regional Analysis Research Center of Hasselt University and Het Belang van Limburg. “These are very good figures, we are already close to 7,000 respondents. But we would still like to effectively survey 10,000 Limburgers about their mental well-being. It takes at most fifteen minutes to complete the survey,” says Professor Hanne Kindermans of the faculty of medicine and life sciences at UHasselt.
Until November 23, you can express your feelings of happiness in the online survey. So quickly seize that last opportunity to contribute to the image of the mental well-being of Limburgers. “This will be the largest study ever into the mental health of Limburgers. Basically, we’re going to ask our readers: How are you? What makes you happy? Are you stressed? What don’t you like?”, emphasizes Indra Dewitte, editor-in-chief of Het Belang van Limburg. “You can read the results in this newspaper in March 2024. But we go further than the numbers: we also tell the stories of people in that situation, we want to show Limburgers that they are not alone with this or that feeling. Together with tips and advice.”
How to participate?
In concrete terms, participating Limburgers are expected to complete around 40 questions online. That takes 15 minutes at most. Everyone can participate.
