Brussels Airport is hit by a power outage. As a result, it is currently not possible for passengers to check in. The luggage of arriving passengers will also not arrive.
Just before 2 p.m., the power went out in the main terminal of Zaventem airport for an unknown reason, Brussels Airport spokeswoman Nathalie Pierard confirmed. Since then, it has not only been dark in the departure and arrival halls, but check-in is also no longer possible. “The screenings can continue,” said Pierard. “But checking in is not possible. We are trying to solve the problems as quickly as possible.”
Because the power outage does not occur at a peak time, the airport is currently not too busy. Although there are of course some delays and there are also some people at the baggage carousels, where arriving passengers wait in vain for their luggage. “We currently do not know what the cause of the breakdown is, but we are trying to find out as quickly as possible, because more people are expected here again later in the day.”
