Single people, older people, people in wheelchairs, people with a migration background, … The new poster of Pleegzorg Vlaanderen focuses specifically on diversity during Foster Care Week. “We want to demonstrate that anyone can form a foster family, not just the classic Flemish family,” explains Walter Leenders of Pleegzorg Oost-Vlaanderen. “People without children, LGBTQIA+ couples, single people or older people can also become foster parents.”

With the poster campaign, Pleegzorg also hopes to attract more people with a different cultural or religious background. “Because many children from that community are also looking for a foster family. Also consider unaccompanied minors who end up in foster care. In various communities, such as the Turkish or Arabic-speaking community, foster care is still unknown. And unknown is often unloved, There are still many misunderstandings about foster care.” That is why Foster Care will also hold an information session in the Eyüp Sultan Mosque in Ghent next week. “We already have many contacts within the different communities, but we also want to go to the people.”
