Bas Tietema and Rob Harmeling can finally start working as team leaders in 2024. Last week, Tietema, who retired as a cyclist, showed his followers via social media what the training week to become a team leader looks like. For this purpose, the would-be team leaders of Tour de Tietema-Unibet had to go to the UCI center in Aigle.
“Last week we traveled to Aigle to follow the team leader training, which is required from the ProContinental level. After five days of sitting in a classroom from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., we were allowed to take the big final exam. All with success and so we as team leaders can already prepare for the 2024 cycling season,” says Tietema.
By ‘all’ he also refers to two new team leaders for Tour de Tietema-Unibet. Gaëtan Pons (31) from Luxembourg and Sverre Dyngeland Vik (27) from Norway are also part of the management team of the Dutch ProTeam. Pons was team leader at Leopard TOGT last season, while Vik comes over from the small Coop-Repsol.
