What connects war victim Adelin Moeremans d’Emaus, scientist Margaretha De Ridder and artist Jean Brusselmans? Their graves are located in the main cemetery of Dilbeek next to many other fascinating people.
You will find graves of priests, mayors and noble families there. There are also many graves of veterans and resistance members, as silent witnesses of the two world wars. The cemetery not only reflects local history, but also introduces visitors to families, artists, scientists and writers from the region and surrounding areas. Who are they and why are they buried in Dilbeek?
A group of interested citizens collected stories and memories and brought them together in a podcast series. Three podcasts can be listened to from November 11 and new podcasts will appear regularly until June 2024. You can enjoy the fascinating stories by scanning the QR code or listening on the Heritage app.
This project is a collaboration between the Dilbeek Cultural Council, Zender, the Province of Flemish Brabant, the Municipality of Dilbeek and Familiekunde Dilbeek.
