A car crashed on the Antwerp Ring, near the Berchem exit, after a police chase from the Netherlands. On the way, the car suffered a blowout, but the driver did not reduce his speed. The passenger was arrested.
It was at 2.45 pm that the federal police received the first report of a pursuit on the E34. “The car, from the Netherlands, drove towards Antwerp at high speed and was chased by our Dutch colleagues,” said Lien Klewais, spokesperson for the federal police. “The car suffered a blowout near Ranst, but that did not stop the driver from continuing his flight. It ultimately resulted in a collision with another vehicle on the Berchem exit.”
This concerns one passenger who was arrested and his car was towed. “The collision caused only material damage, no injuries were reported,” the federal police confirmed. It is currently unclear why the driver fled.
