Lieren resident Bart Van de Bosch officially opens the doors of his record store Bart Vinyl on the Paardenmarkt in Antwerp on Thursday evening. “You can discover new music in the cozy listening corner.”
It is no surprise to Bart that he is going to open a store selling vinyl records. “Vinyl has been my greatest passion ever since I found a record player next to a railway when I was eighteen. Miraculously, that record player still worked and so I was able to discover the vinyl record through my father’s records. Later I started selling records at flea markets and thanks to my brother I have now been given the opportunity to start a store where I can offer some extras to record lovers,” he explains the choice for Bart Vinyl.
Visitors will find these extras in the cozy listening corner where they can play records themselves or listen to them to discover new music. “There is a varied range of records, singles and CDs in terms of price and genres. We have records and CDs from four euros, but we also have a number of collector’s items such as a Michael Jackson box, an original pressing of Ten by Pearl Jam and some CDs by Guido Belcanto. The genres range from classical to hard rock,” Bart goes over the range.
This is replenished weekly and new records will soon be available and can be ordered. Bart Vinyl also does purchasing. Anyone who wants to offer records or CDs can do so by sending an email to [email protected] or by visiting during opening hours.
Singer and percussionist Eddie Conard will be on DJ duty during the opening Thursday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. He also puts his unique record collection with soul, disco and pop for sale. “I met Eddie Conard after two students, Ian Mertens and Rose-Ann Melis, saw the video clip of Bringing Back The Funk by Eddie Conard. “
Anyone who buys a CD or record during the opening on Thursday will receive a free tote bag from Bart Vinyl. Furthermore, the record store will be open on Mondays from 12 noon to 6 pm, on Tuesdays from 12 pm to 6 pm and on Saturdays from 2 pm to 6 pm.
