A car crashed on the Antwerp ring road, near the Berchem exit, after a police chase from the Netherlands. The car suffered a blowout along the way, but that did not stop the driver from reducing his speed. The passenger was arrested.

It was at 2.45 pm that the federal police received the first report of a pursuit on the E34. “The car – from the Netherlands – drove towards Antwerp at high speed and was chased by our Dutch colleagues,” said Lien Klewais, spokesperson for the federal police. “The car suffered a blowout near Ranst, but that did not stop the driver from abandoning his flight. It ultimately resulted in a collision with another vehicle on the Berchem exit.”

This concerns one passenger who was arrested and his car was towed. “The collision only caused material damage, no injuries were reported,” the federal police confirmed. It is currently unclear why the driver fled.
