An automotive industrialist from Sint-Martens-Latem who was accused of large-scale damage to the nature reserve along the Leie in Sint-Martens-Latem and Deinze, must pay a fine of no less than 160,000 euros from the environmental chamber of the Ghent criminal court. He also received a prison sentence of 6 months. According to the man, he nevertheless acted as a good family man. “I am convinced that my plan is the best solution, but the people of Flemish nature and forest management clearly see it differently,” he said.
