Aston Villa suffered a surprising 2-0 defeat at Nottingham Forrest on matchday eleven in the Premier League. A goal by Red Devil Orel Mangala turned the match into a decisive blow, although Argentinian goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez – voted the best goalkeeper in the world at the Ballon d’Or last week – also played his part.

Ola Aina opened the scoring for Nottingham Forrest after just five minutes. Just after halftime, Mangala (47”) doubled the lead with his first goal of the season. The Red Devil scored well from distance, although Emiliano Martinez looked miserable. After an acrobatic save, the ball still went into the goal somewhat clumsily.

Villa coach Unai Emery brought in Youri Tielemans on the hour mark, but he also failed to turn the tide. Leander Dendoncker was allowed to come on in the slot.

With the victory, Nottingham Forrest increases its lead over the relegation zone and is provisionally in twelfth place with 13 points after eleven games. Aston Villa is fifth with 22 points.
