Last week all matches in the 16th final of the Belgian Cup were completed. Frank Raes and Franky Van der Elst once again looked with wide eyes at one of the strongholds of Club Bruggen, which won with a clear 6-0 score against second division Beerschot.
Raes chimes in Shotcast his admiration for Hans Vanaken is clear. “He always has to do it again. He is always there, we cannot say anything bad about him. His numbers are phenomenal. He also made fourteen last season,” said the analyst.
RED DEVILS
Vanaken was not called up by Domenico Tedesco in the Red Devils’ last European Championship qualifiers. Raes would like to see that change.
“I still say to Tedesco: just call him up. And if De Bruyne doesn’t play, just put him on. He can certainly launch Lukaku or Doku. He sees it quickly and can also execute it technically. They would run really well with Vanaken behind him. It seems routine how good he is.”
PHENOMENAL
Franky Van der Elst shares that opinion. “Hans knows how to turn. His insight into the game is phenomenally good. I’ve been saying it for eight years…” The former Lokeren coach couldn’t even finish his sentence before Raes took the lead again. “And no one listens. No, there needs to be more respect for him. He can make certain players move.”
