The Red Devils are working on rejuvenation within the team. But that doesn’t work out as easily as expected for everyone.
National coach Domenico Tedesco tries to give youngsters and newcomers their chance with the Red Devils. Although it is not that easy for everyone.
Things are much more difficult than expected for Lois Openda, even though he is having a very good season in the Bundesliga so far. For Marc Wilmots it is clear where things are going wrong for the former Lens player with the national team.
“The quality is certainly there,” says the former national coach on RTBF. “But now he has to find the necessary confidence with the national team. Of course he runs into a monster like Lukaku. They were played together, but that clearly didn’t work. It was only one match. It is complicated, but above all it will take time.”
The presence of Romelu Lukaku and the incredible figures that Big Rom puts up certainly play a role for Openda. “He forces it and if you do that, you know it’s not going to work. He enjoys the necessary confidence in Leipzig. He feels good there and that is exceptional as a newcomer.”
