After a check scan next week, Kevin De Bruyne (32) may know more. His recovery after major hamstring surgery is going according to schedule.
LOOK. Kevin De Bruyne: “Return is not yet an option”
De Bruyne gave an update on his injury in Ghent. The Red Devil traveled to Drongen on Wednesday to attend a youth tournament and was present on the Triple Trophy Tour in the afternoon. A tour of Manchester City’s trophies that passes through the hometowns of its players. About 700 supporters had their picture taken in De Bijloke in Ghent with the Premier League, FA Cup, Champions League and European Super Cup.

And afterwards we also attended a Q&A with De Bruyne. “It was a serious operation,” De Bruyne said of the hamstring injury he suffered on the opening matchday in August. “It’s actually going very well. A control scan will follow next week. Then we know how the injury evolves. In the end everything goes according to schedule. I was not given a time when I could play football again. City is in daily contact with doctor Geert Declercq (who performed the operation, ed.) and Lieven Maesschalck. But they didn’t give me a deadline.”

“It is important that I get this injury 100 percent right. There were a lot of cracks. Those hamstrings could have torn at any time. It was, on paper, like a wet kitchen towel. Ultimately, I had a major maintenance carried out after 700 matches. A bit like you do with your car.”

Due to his injury, De Bruyne had more time for his family. “Now I also have a few months to convince my wife to play for a few more years. She now sees life with dad at home and with dad who can go to the sons’ training sessions. But it might have been good to see the other side. It puts everything into perspective.”
De Bruyne still has a contract with City until 2024. Discussions about a new agreement have not yet started. The Red Devil would prefer to end his career in Manchester. Despite the fact that there is interest from Saudi Arabia.
