Spotted in ‘Blind Married’: why are green suits so popular? “Dries Mertens is also there for something” | Nina

You couldn’t miss it: in the first episode of ‘Blind Married’, Brecht and Dziubi stood together in the same dark green suit at the altar. “What the actual f*ck”, exclaimed Brecht, but those who know the wedding trends are much less surprised. “Green suits are all the rage right now,” says Lisa van Lost in Pablos, where Brecht and Dziubi bought their suits. At Café Costume, they even advise their customers against the color. “If you really want to be original, there are better options.”

“Wow, you look good,” Brecht screeched when he met his Dziubi at the altar. The two men were tight in suits, and even then in the same suit: a moss green one finished with a white shirt, brown shoes and a colorful bow and flowers. “We really didn’t know about each other”, a cheerful Brecht confesses to our newspaper today. “Ah, I think it’s cool that we were wearing the same thing.”

Why moss green suits are everywhere now

“We’ve known from Brecht for some time that he absolutely wanted that color,” says Lisa from costume shop Lost in Pablos. “We made various proposals to Dziubi: also sand colors or shades of blue. But of all he fitted, the moss green convinced him the hardest. We tried to get him to change his mind, but after two hours of trying, he was so sure that that color was 100 percent his thing. Well, it is simply a shade that is very hip today and which also looks very good on many people.”

It doesn’t matter if you have pale or dark skin, and what accessories you want to wear with it, green goes with just about everything, says Lisa. That probably explains why the shade is so ultra-popular these days. “It’s been moss green for three years now,” says Stefan from Café Costume. “The color has been in our top ten best-selling fabrics for the full two years now. By the way, it mainly consists of green colors,” Stefan laughs. “Softer and more natural shades of green also score.”

We therefore increasingly want our marriage to be a bit casual, stubborn and certainly ‘Instagram perfect’. The bohemian-trend embodies that perfectly: also think of wild flowers, parties in nature and many natural decoration elements. “And that’s why green is booming now,” Stefan believes. Footballer Dries Mertens got the ball rolling even more in 2015, Lisa says: he was already wearing such a moss green suit, even before it was hip. At Café Costume, where the suit came from, they noticed its impact. “Men walked in here asking if they could get his suit specifically.”

Is there already a next trend color ready?

It is, of course, a bit risky because of its great popularity. Before you know it, the two of you are apparently standing in the moss green in front of the altar. “We now also advise our customers not to choose that color,” says Stefan. “If you want to be original, wear something else, we tell them honestly.” At Lost in Pablos they do stick to the color, says Lisa. “Green is a beautiful color and we also offer it in more shades, such as olive green and light green.”

If you prefer to wear the next trend color, Lisa says it is best with rust, red, brown and burgundy tones. “They are clearly emerging now.” And both with her and with Café Costume, costumes in sand, beige or off-white are also increasing in popularity, a good alternative for those who want something summery. “By the way, linen suits are on the rise: a suit can really be a bit more casual,” says Stefan. At Café Costume they notice that the absolute daredevils now even pick a bright bubblegum color from the rack: pink, bright yellow, bright blue or bright green.
