The wedding of Princess Maria Laura is attended by at least 500 guests, including dignitaries and many royal guests. But the Swedish king Carl Gustaf (76) and his wife Queen Silvia (78) are certainly not among them, reports the Swedish magazine ‘Svensk Damtidning’. The royal couple is prevented by the anniversary party of Queen Margrethe (82) of Denmark, which will be celebrated in Copenhagen this weekend.

Because of the good ties between the royal houses of Sweden and Denmark, the royals prefer to visit Copenhagen. The Swedish Crown Princess Victoria (45) is also not coming to Brussels according to ‘Svensk Damtidning’ and Prince Carl Philip (43) also has no plans to travel to Belgium, the Swedish court says to the magazine.

It will become clear on Saturday which other royal houses are represented. Princess Maria Laura will be legally married that day in the town hall of Brussels, followed by a church wedding in the Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula. “My husband and I are very excited for our daughter,” Princess Astrid said of the wedding. “It is a very big event for us. It was important for Laura to get married in Brussels because she was born and raised here. She loves her city.”
