celebritiesTaylor Swift (34) can now call herself a billionaire. The American singer earns a spot for the first time in the annual list of super-rich of ‘Forbes’. The business magazine estimates the singer’s fortune at 1.1 billion dollars (1.02 billion euros). According to ‘Forbes’, Swift is also the first musician to become a billionaire with just her songs and performances.

The magazine calls Swift “the most famous newcomer” on the list. Swift, who comes in at 2,545th, is one of 265 new billionaires. The British newspaper ‘The Independent’ takes stock of Swift’s fortune. Her entire music catalog is estimated to be worth $400 million. Her concerts, the associated ticket sales and merchandise are said to be worth around $370 million. She would owe the rest of the sum to streaming her music, royalties from music sales and her five homes.

It is no secret that Swift’s music sells well. The singer was crowned the best-selling artist of the year for the fourth time last year. She also did this in 2014, 2019 and 2022. And Swift also stocked the drawer with tickets for The Eras Tour. She became the first artist ever to generate a turnover of more than one billion dollars (965 million euros) with a concert tour.

A record of billionaires

According to ‘Forbes’, there are now more billionaires worldwide than ever: 2,781. There are 141 more than last year and 26 more than in the previous record year of 2021. France’s Bernard Arnault (75) tops the list with an estimated fortune of 233. billion dollars (216.5 million euros). The CEO of luxury group LVMH, known for the fashion brands Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior, is therefore the richest man in the world, according to Forbes. Tesla boss Elon Musk and Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos follow in second and third place with assets of 195 and 194 billion dollars (181.1 and 180.2 billion euros) respectively.
