New week, new generous updates. As usual, we delved into the royals’ Instagram updates to give you an overview of the most important (or most striking) royal news. Watch!

Malaysia

The new king of Malaysia has moved into the royal palace in Kuala Lumpur. Ibrahim, formerly the sultan of Johor, took the oath and can call himself the seventeenth king of the Asian country. He succeeds King Abdullah.

The Netherlands

Party with our northern neighbors. Last week it was Princess Beatrix’s birthday. The mother of King Willem-Alexander II was allowed to blow out 86 candles. Until 2013 she was Queen of the Netherlands.

Sweden

In Sweden they received important visitors again. French President Macron and his wife Brigitte were on a two-day state visit and were received by King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia. The solemn moment was followed by a state banquet in the evening.

Spain

And there was birthday cake. Spanish King Felipe also celebrated his birthday last week. He was 56 years old. His colleague, King Abdullah of Jordan and his son Hashem, were also allowed to add another year to their tally. They were 62 and 19 years old respectively.

Monaco

No birthday cake but there was a fire for Prince Albert and Princess Charlène. They went out with their twins Jacques and Gabriella for Sainte Dévote, a national holiday in Monaco. According to tradition, the family set a sailboat on fire. Fireworks followed afterwards.
