RoyaltyBoth King Charles (74) and Princess Kate (42) are currently still recovering from their operations, but the next British royal is also taking a break. Prince Edward (59) has just returned from his overseas travels and will suspend his royal duties until February 8. This is reported by ‘The Telegraph’.

The British royal family has to make do with a limited staff for a while. Both Princess Kate and King Charles are currently recovering from medical surgery. Prince William cleared his schedule to be able to stand by his wife’s side and support their family in the near future. And on top of that, Prince Edward has now also decided to “take a short break from his royal duties after his foreign trips to South Africa and St. Helena.” Although Prince Edward will not be away for more than a week. He would reportedly attend another reception at the Institute of Physics on February 8.

But this does mean that royal duties currently all fall on the shoulders of Queen Camilla, Princess Anne and Sophie and the Duchess of Edinburgh.

Health issues

On January 17, Buckingham Palace and Kensington Palace shared two separate statements about the health of Princess Kate and King Charles. Kensington Palace said the Princess of Wales had been scheduled for abdominal surgery the day before and would remain in hospital for 10 to 14 days. The princess is now back home and is continuing her recovery there. “Based on current medical advice, it appears she will return again after Easter,” the statement said.

Shortly afterwards, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles was seeking treatment for an enlarged prostate. It is understood the king wanted to share his diagnosis to encourage men who may be experiencing symptoms to get checked. “His Majesty’s condition is benign. He will remain in hospital for corrective surgery,” the statement said. According to sources, Charles is expected to have to take time off work for a month on medical advice. “But knowing the king, he will try to have some private audiences and insist on keeping his paperwork in order,” he said. King Charles is also back home.
