Spin-off ‘Suits’ now really in the works: ‘NBC’ has ordered a pilot episode | TV

TVThe arrival of a new spin-off of the American lawyer series ‘Suits’ is closer than ever. ‘NBC’ has officially released a pilot episode of ‘Suits: L.A’. ordered from Aaron Korsh, who also created the original series. ‘Deadline’ announced this on Thursday.

‘Suits LA’. will not be a remake, but a story with new characters. ‘Suits LA’ will revolve around Ted Black, a former federal prosecutor from New York. His company is in crisis and to survive he must embrace a position he has despised his entire career. “It will be a lot of fun: a great story with character. It will have the same energy and beautiful people as the original,” said Beatrice Springborn, president of Universal International Studios. The brand new series, written by Aaron Korsh, will begin filming in March.

Nothing has been announced about the cast yet, but according to the script there is currently no room for the original actors from ‘Suits’. Several actors from the original series announced last month that they were interested in reprising their roles.

The arrival of the new series is the result of the renewed success of the original in the United States. The American lawyer series was streamed no less than 57.7 billion minutes in America in 2023. The hit series thus broke the viewing figure record of ‘The Office’. In 2020, Americans watched 57.1 billion minutes of that acclaimed comedy series. Last year, ‘Suits’ was also crowned the most watched series on Netflix ever.

The nine seasons of the lawyer series were made between 2011 and 2019. The series is about New York lawyer Harvey Specter (Gabriel Macht) who hires the brilliant Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams), even though he has no law degree. Actress and royal Meghan Markle appeared in the world-famous series for seven seasons. She took on the role of lawyer Rachel Zane. Ultimately, the Duchess of Sussex said goodbye to her role in ‘Suits’ due to her marriage to British Prince Harry. It immediately meant the end of her acting career.
