No names yet, no dates yet. Normally, concert organizer Live Nation organizes the daytime festivals Werchter Boutique and TW Classic on the festival grounds in June. But for now they don’t want to say anything about it. Are they not being organized this year?
There has been communication for months about the four-day Rock Werchter festival, which will take place this year from July 4 to 7 on the Werchter festival grounds. New names are regularly added to the line-up, the day tickets for July 6 and 7 are already sold out. But there is great silence around the daytime festivals Werchter Boutique and TW Classic. This is usually on the agenda in June. But concert organizer Live Nation is keeping tight-lipped for now. “If information about the day festivals is available, you will hear/read from us,” said communications manager Nele Bigaré.
There is also uncertainty in the municipalities involved, Rotselaar and Haacht. “No application has been submitted yet,” says Haacht mayor Steven Swiggers (Team 3150). “According to the cooperation agreement, the organization is entitled to seven festival days per year. Each festival day must be approved by the colleges of Haacht and Rotselaar. So they have to apply for admission to Rock Werchter, TW Classic, Werchter Boutique or others.”
No request yet
This has been arranged for Rock Werchter and Bruce Springsteen, who will come to Werchter with the E Street Band on July 2. So there are still two days left. But there is no other application yet. Although this is still possible, according to Swiggers. “In theory, this is possible up to 30 days prior to the concert,” he clarifies. “But in practice this always happens much earlier, because they still have to organize ticket sales, order materials, put together the crew and more. They are very late in 2024, but it is still possible.”
Although, according to the mayor, it will not be easy to put together a strong poster for those days. “Germany and France, where the European Football Championship and the Olympic Games will take place this year, do not want to allow other major events in the summer, partly due to the capacity of the security services. Two major markets are therefore missing. For a limited number of countries, many artists from the US do not want to tour in Europe, and are therefore postponing that to 2025.”
Definitely to be continued. (jct)
