Johnny Ruffo, the Australian actor and singer best known for his role in the soap opera ‘Home and Away’, has died of cancer. He turned 35.
Ruffo was diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017. The tumor was removed at the time, but the actor relapsed three years later. In August, Ruffo announced that his diagnosis was terminal. His death was announced by his family on Friday. “It is with heavy hearts that we had to say goodbye to our beloved Johnny today,” he said. “Surrounded by his partner Tahnee and family, Johnny passed away peacefully, with the support of incredible nurses and doctors. He was a very talented, charming and funny guy. Johnny was very determined. He fought to the end, and fought as hard as he could. Such a beautiful soul who could have given us so much more. We love you, Johnny, and will always remember the joy you brought to our lives. Rest in peace.”
Ruffo became known in Australia as a participant in the music competition ‘X-Factor’, but in our region he mainly gained fame through his three-year stint in the soap opera ‘Home and Away’.
