celebritiesActor and singer Jared Leto (51) is known for his rather eccentric behavior, but now he has gone one step further. He climbed to the top of the Empire State Building in New York to promote his band Thirty Seconds to Mars’ new world tour.
Jared Leto looked out at the New York skyline on Thursday morning, not at the accessible viewpoint of the Empire State Building, but at the very highest point of the building. He told ‘TODAY’ that he had achieved a goal of standing at the top of the iconic skyscraper.
On his way up, he stopped at the 80th floor, where he suddenly saw his mother standing on the other side of the glass. “That was really a surprise, but the view I saw on the 102nd floor was even more surprising, really incredible,” says the singer. “Especially when the sun started to rise.”

Before that performance, the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman underwent some painful moments. During his interview he showed his bloody hands full of abrasions. “But it was worth it,” Leto continued to enthuse. The ‘Seasons’ tour, which Jared Leto is promoting with this stunt, kicks off on March 15 at Lollapalooza in Buenos Aires. Thirty Seconds of Mars will then make stops in Copenhagen, Paris and Madrid, among others, before ending in Auckland, New Zealand on September 19. On April 26, 2024, the band will also visit our country in Vorst Nationaal.
The actor is no stranger to these kinds of daring climbs. He has been climbing buildings and crazy rock formations for a while now, which certainly helped him get to the top of the Empire State Building. In June, Jared climbed a hotel in Berlin without any protection. He was only wearing a pair of slippers at the time, but still managed to climb quite high. Leto sat above the windows of the hotel’s first floor before coming back down.
