A thick layer of butter with jam or chocolate spread is very tasty, but of course not really healthy. We understand that you do not always choose a healthy choice, but make sure that you do not spread this topping on your sandwich too often:

  • Jam
  • Fruit Hail
  • Apple syrup
  • Honey
  • Sprinkles
  • Flakes
  • Chocolate spread

All these types of toppings? Yes, they are all full of sugars and few other nutrients. For example, a sandwich with 15 grams of flakes already has 10.5 grams of sugar, which is literally a sugar roll. But the fruit sprinkles take the cake: relatively speaking, it contains the most sugar. Unfortunately, we have to share more bad news for the sweet tooths among us, because other types of toppings also have the same problem.

  • Fruit sprinkles (15 g): 59 kcal and 14.7 g sugar
  • Honey (15 g): 48 kcal and 12 g sugar
  • Flakes (15 g): 68 kcal and 10.5 g sugar
  • Sprinkles (15 g): 68 kcal 9.7 g sugar
  • Chocolate spread (20 g): 114 kcal and 12.2 g sugar
  • Apple syrup (20 g): 56 kcal and 11.6 g sugar
  • Jam (20 g): 50 kcal and 10.2 g sugar

Can’t give up something sweet on bread? Then try a nut butter and peanut butter made from 100% peanuts without added salt or sugar. This way you still have something sweet on bread and it also fits into a healthy diet.
