“They secretly vape in the toilet”, “There is dealing going on in class”, “Vaping is already happening in groups 7 and 8.” These are statements from parents and staff of secondary and primary schools. Research by the RTL News Panel shows that many children vape and do so at a young age. Parents and schools are at a loss.
It is prohibited to sell vapes to children under the age of eighteen, but they can easily get the e-cigarettes from older friends, dealers, or in the store. This is what a staff member from a secondary school who participated in the RTL News panel said. That this reaction is no exception is evident from the many examples that RTL News received from employees about vaping students.
The survey was conducted on October 25 to 27, 2023, among almost 20,000 members of the RTL News Panel. Including 1,600 parents of children in secondary school and more than 300 people who work at a secondary school. After weighting, the study is representative of five variables, namely: age, gender, education, employment and political preference. The RTL News Panel has more than 38,000 members.
