Frank Raes has been in the news for something completely different in recent weeks. The football commentator and now retired VRT face was allowed to exhibit a number of works and did so with verve. Although he now struck a nerve.
BVs make a big splash
Both Frank Raes and his ex-wife Cath Luyten were two participants in the popular final season of the Play4 series Stukken van Mensen. Well-known and lesser-known people are allowed to sell valuable pieces to different dealers.
Raes took the plunge and brought along a work of his own. In his spare time he is a passionate photographer and the ex-VRT employee has built up quite a collection in the meantime.
Huge success, followed by… a wild scene
He was now allowed to show that collection to the general public in the store of Frank Van Laer (who also bought his work in the program). The vernissage was a great success because no fewer than 47 works were sold.
In the meantime, Raes happily continues with a hobby that has gotten out of hand. Last weekend he was present at the Tour of Flanders, this time he presented a ‘savage’ sea scene.
