The Danish Count Nikolai regularly gives an insight into his life on social media. On Instagram he now shares a number of photos of him and his girlfriend Benedkeek Thoustrup, during a stay in Paris.
Count Nikolai of Monpezat is the eldest son of Prince Joachim of Denmark and his ex-wife Alexandra. He was born on August 28, 1999 in Copenhagen and is the first grandchild of the former Queen of Denmark, Margrethe.

A modeling career and studies
Nikolai has been working as a model since the end of his high school years. In 2018 he made his debut on the catwalk and since then he has walked fashion shows for fashion house Dior, among others. He also graces the covers of various magazines, such as Ukrainian Vogue and the Dutch version of Numéro magazine.

In 2018, young Nikolai started military training, but he soon put an end to it because it did not suit him. A Business Administration study in Copenhagen follows and last semester Nikolai studied at the University of Technology in Sydney. He is staying in the Australian city together with his girlfriend Benedkeek Thoustrup. The two have been together for almost six years and have previously lived together in Copenhagen and Paris. It is not known where they live now, although it could easily be in Paris again, judging by the photos they share on Instagram.

Traveling type
Nikolai’s Instagram account also shows that he enjoys traveling the world. This year, he shares photos of a trip to Bali and a ski trip in the Alps. Photos from all over the world can also be seen on the account of his girlfriend Benedkeek. For example, she shares recent photos of her and Nikolai in New Zealand and Vietnam. From prince to count
The past few years have not been all roses and moonshine for Nikolai. At birth he was given the title of prince, but Queen Margrethe decided to take this title away from him and his younger brother Felix from 2023. Her explanation for this is that the obligations associated with carrying a royal title will have to be borne by fewer members of the royal family in the future. This is to guarantee the future of the monarchy. Her decision leads to surprise and sadness among the family of her youngest son, something that Queen Margrethe does not properly assess in advance and for which she later apologizes. This does not change her decision. Nikolai later talks about being stripped of his royal title that it is “a strange feeling” and that he would rather not have experienced it.
