An encounter that raises eyebrows
Prince Carl Philip, the son of Swedish King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia, has already had a long relationship when he met Sofia Hellqvist through mutual friends in 2010. The meeting raised eyebrows among his parents and his sister Crown Princess Victoria. Sofia, from Sweden, has worked for years as a bikini model and has also been a participant in the reality TV program Paradise Hotel. A program in which single men and women move into a luxury resort on a tropical island. What happens next is anyone’s guess.

During Sofia’s participation in the program, racy images of her circulated in the Swedish media. These images are no obstacle for the Swedish prince. The engagement
After a few years of relationship, the engagement of Prince Carl Philip and his Sofia was announced in 2014. About the proposal, he says that he was nervous and woke up several times the night before. “I don’t know if Sofia realized that. It had to be a surprise,” said the lovesick prince. Luckily for him, the proposal is indeed a surprise as he asks Sofia to marry him early in the morning. “He woke up so noticeably that morning,” says Sofia, who normally wakes up earlier than her husband-to-be.

A royal wedding
Prince Carl Philip and Sofia tied the knot on June 13, 2015 at Slottskyrkan in Stockholm. Sofia wears a lace dress designed by Swedish designer Ida Sjöstedt. She also appears with a brand new diamond and emerald tiara that she received especially for the wedding from her new parents-in-law, King Carl Gustaf and Queen Silvia.

Parents of three sons
In the years that followed, Prince Carl Philip and Princess Sofia became parents of three sons: Alexander (2016), Gabriel (2017) and Julian (2021). The Swedish princely couple is active on Instagram and regularly gives a glimpse into their private lives there.
