Australian actress Margot Robbie (33) has responded for the first time to her missed Oscar nomination. She has no chance of winning the statue for ‘best actress’. “Our mission was accomplished.”

It was no surprise that Oppenheimer, the film about ‘the father of the atomic bomb’, would emerge as the biggest favorite for the Oscars. The print has a chance to win thirteen statuettes. The fans were surprised Barbie, the film of the past year in terms of hype and at the box office. Lead actress Margot Robbie did not receive a nomination for ‘best actress’. Reason for commotion and disbelief on the internet. “Why doesn’t she have a chance for an Oscar and Ryan Gosling (her opponent in the form of Ken, ed.) well?”

Robbie has now responded to the smear for the first time. During an event of the American actors’ union SAG-AFTRA, the actress stated that she was not concerned about the missed Oscar nomination. “There’s no reason to feel sad when you know you’re so blessed,” she said. “The mission of the film was to influence a culture, to change it.” And, says Robbie, we succeeded. “It’s the biggest reward that has come from the success of the film.”

Angry about Greta

Robbie did express her dissatisfaction with the fact that Barbiedirector Greta Gerwig is not nominated for ‘best director’. “Obviously I think she should be nominated,” Robbie said. “You only do what she did once in your career. And she did it, she did it.” The blockbuster has raised more than 1.38 billion (about 1.28 billion euros) at the cinema box office worldwide, making it the most successful film of 2023.

Regardless, Margot Robbie emphasized that she is “beyond ecstatic” with her eight Oscar nominations Barbie, including “Best Picture,” “Best Adapted Screenplay,” “Best Supporting Actor” for Ryan Gosling and America Ferrera, and “Best Costume Design.” Margot Robbie is recognized for her role as producer of the film. “The audience’s reaction to the film is the biggest reward,” says Robbie. “Whether it’s seeing what people are writing or seeing how much pink is in this room right now. I’ve never been part of something so big.”
