The program ‘Ron Wacht op de Nacht’ on NPO Radio 5 will stop in January. Ron Brandsteder can now still be heard on the public channel every Friday evening from 10 p.m. to midnight, but the NPO is canceling the program.
“We regularly renew the programming in consultation with the broadcasters, to remain surprising and contemporary for our listeners,” says a spokesperson for Radio 5. “Renewal unfortunately also means that we sometimes say goodbye to programs. We thank Ron Brandsteder for the great collaboration on NPO Radio 5.”
Ron Brandsteder about stopping: “I think it’s a great shame that Ron Wacht Op De Nacht has to stop. I have really enjoyed working on it all these years, put it together myself and enjoy the reactions of listeners. I certainly hope to remain associated with MAX, we are discussing something new. In the meantime, we will continue reminiscing, telling stories and of course the most beautiful music until the last broadcast on December 29.”
Ron had been heard on Radio 5’s late evening since March 2019.
