IN PICTURE. Biggest fan Maria (103) visits her favorite soap ‘Familie’

On November 19, she will turn 104, the brave Maria Maerevoet from Hofstade, and on Tuesday her big wish finally came true: to attend a recording of ‘Familie’, her favorite TV program.

She had often heard acquaintances tell stories about what it was like to experience such a television recording. But Maria herself had never done that. Until now, and immediately from her favorite program, the VTM soap Family. So on Tuesday she was picked up in a limousine with her daughter and some friends and was festively served cupcakes, coffee and bubbles, thanks also to the socio-cultural seniors’ association S-Plus and its Hartenwens project.

“Her legs don’t move very well and her eyes have deteriorated, but she still has a sharp mind and a good conversationalist,” says daughter Diana. At the AED Studios in Lint they were given a tour of the set and met with actors Ray Verhaeghe, among others. (who plays Albert, ed.) and Annie Geeraerts (Anna, ed.). It ended with a three-course menu.
