The singer recently had to postpone the rest of his tour due to a stomach ulcer he suffered. Van Zandt is confident that Springsteen will be fully recovered when the tour resumes in March. “We’re coming back stronger than ever,” says the 72-year-old guitarist.
Springsteen and his E Street Band embarked on their first joint tour in seven years this year. According to Van Zandt, these were intense months. “We will come back with the same intensity and it will be great,” he expects.
Van Zandt calls it a nice surprise that there was still so much interest in them after so many years. “And I also think it’s a tribute to our work. We have been practicing our profession for so long and Bruce’s songs also hold up well,” says the guitarist. “And look what has happened in recent weeks. We have a new Rolling Stones album and a new Beatles song. That just shows that people with good craftsmanship often last a while.”
Springsteen and his band set the Werchter meadow on fire last summer. And in 2024, they can once again secure a spot on the Werchter podium on July 2.
