“I’ve had a lot of landmines over the years… finally found one that works for me,” the ‘Call Me By Your Name’ actor captioned his post. With the ‘landmines’ Armie refers to the controversy of recent years.

Yet the actor seems to be living a happy life again on his social media. He poses on the beach of Los Angeles with a big smile. Hammer also confirmed in an interview that he is in a better place in his life. “I am a healthier, happier and more balanced person. I can now be there for my children like never before. I am very grateful for my life and my recovery.”

In 2021, his ex-lovers shared some striking posts from Hammer. In those messages he glorified cannibalism. “I am 100% a cannibal. I want to eat you. That’s scary to admit. I have never admitted that before,” he wrote to his partners at the time. His then-wife, Elizabeth Chambers, did not deny the allegations and eventually filed for divorce.

Still, the actor continued to maintain his innocence. He claimed that his behavior stemmed from the ‘control’ he wanted to have over sexual situations. Because in addition to cannibalism, he was also accused of sexual abuse. For example, he allegedly harassed several women and acted dominantly during sexual acts.

Shortly afterwards, Armie sought help at a clinic to address his problems with drugs, alcohol and sex. Before that, Hammer is said to have even considered a suicide attempt. He stated this in an interview. “I walked into the sea and swam as far as I could, hoping I would drown, get hit by a boat or eaten by a shark. Then I realized that my children were still on the beach, and I couldn’t do that to them,” the actor said about the situation in February 2021.
