Dana Winner popular in Thailand: “Clips already viewed 200 million times on YouTube”

Dana Winner (58) is ‘hot’ abroad. At the end of this year she will perform again in South Africa, and then she will go to Thailand for the first time. “They discovered me there through ‘Love for music’.”

Dana Winner remains an established figure in her own country, but she is also popular abroad. “People don’t know this, but I do a theater tour and many festivals in the Netherlands every year,” she says in our sister newspaper The Importance of Limburg. But she is also doing well outside Europe. “On December 29 I will even give a concert in a rugby stadium in South Africa. And in January I will be in Bangkok.”

In the Thai capital she performs in English for the locals. “They discovered me there through YouTube with my version of it One moment in time (from Whitney Houston, ed.) in Love for music. The clips have already been viewed 200 million times. People who know something about it tell me that’s a lot.”

“A few years ago I also started performing in Jakarta, where they discovered me through my video The sound of silence. When I was in the Lotto Arena in 2019, people came from China. And in Bruges there were Canadians, South Africans, Australians and British. They must have thought: If she doesn’t come to us, we will go to her.”
